Mwakya,
Witchcraft. Voodoo. Juju. Some people will react with fear, others with amusement to these notions. Many believe in the working of witchcraft. Few know what it really is.
When you are born in Africa, like me, witchcraft and magic are just part of reality. In the language of my tribe, the Wakamba, witchcraft or magic is also known as woyi or kamote (ka = little, mote = stick; the magic wand or amulet as a pars pro toto for magic). In Kiswahili, the native language of Kenya, it is known as uchawi or uganga.
The Wakamba are not only famous for their skill in wood carving and their passion for sex, but perhaps even more so for their mastery of witchcraft. Anyone born in Africa grew up with the existence of witchcraft in some form at the borders of their life, but those born in the Wakamba tribe even more so.
We believe, even before christian missionaries came to Africa, in one God (Ngai or Asa), as the benevolent creator of all. We also believe that between humans and God there is a realm where spirits exist. Some spirits are created as such by God, others are former humans: our ancestors. These spirits can be good or bad, many are potentially both, just like humans. Witchcraft is the knowledge of how to call upon the spirits for a purpose. This is mostly done by rituals. Woyi is usually performed on the body of the requestor, through small cuts in which the medicine doctor rubs specific herbs that have been prepared with specific rituals. Another way of performing woyi is through giving the requestor an amulet or charm: the kamote.
The power of witchcraft in itself is neither 'good' nor 'bad', but just power. The way this power is used, on the other hand, can be either. In most cases, unfortunately, witchcraft has a negative ring to it, due to the fact that it has been used too often to harm others, out of hatred, jealousy, revenge... What many people using woyi tend to forget, is that anything one does onto another will eventually come back onto oneself many times stronger. Also the person performing the rituals is at risk.
Used in a positive way, on the other hand, this power can be a strong asset in getting what you want in your life. As long as one does not use kamote to influence or manipulate others in any way, but only to achieve good fortune for oneself in a specific field of ones own life, there is no risk of backfiring.
As a kamba who is trained in the rituals of kamote, I can prepare for you a kamote in any of the following fields: wealth, love, protection, sexual lust and good fortune. An online order form will soon be available. Until then you can send an e-mail for more information about ordering a kamote of your choice.
